Saturday July 18th we were able to go on this awesome trip for the entire day. We went to the Hacienda Guachipelin which is a cattle farm dedicated to raising beef cattle and work horses. It is also dedicated to the conservation of the dry tropical forest and to commercial reforestation. This place is beautiful! We saw rivers, waterfalls, natural pools, hot bubbling waters, volcanic mud, tropical forests, birds, mammals, reptiles, insects and more. This is part of the National Park system and is called Rincon de la Vieja National Park. We did everything there was to do there: horseback riding, hiking, tubing and the Canopy Tour. The first thing that we did was the Canopy Tour. This is where harnesses and clips were put on us in order to travel high above the trees from platforms to ledges, to climbing walls, rappelling, Tarzan like swing...we glided through the Rio Blanco Canyon. Next, we did the Rio Negro Tubing Adventure (Class II & IV). With the tubing we were taken by bus to one part of the river where we put on life vests and helmets. We picked up our tube as we approached the bank of the river and then we were off down the waters of Rio Negro for 90 minutes full of adrenaline. The combination of the cold water and the high fast moving rapids often took my breath away. One rapid was so big with a deep drop along the river that I tumbled upside down. Don't worry...this area had a very strong helper to assist people when this happens. It seems that in this area people have a tendency to flip over. After the tubing we had a fantastic lunch at the hotel in this national park. After lunch we rode horses on a trail for 45 minutes to a waterfall with a cliff rock for jumping. It is surrounded by forest and hugged by the Colorado River. After we rode the horses back to the barn we went to the Natural Spa. Here we saw where heat surfaces through a crack in the ground (deep geological formations), and boiling volcanic mud pools are formed, which emanate a vapor with a smell of sulfur (sulfur spring). The water and the volcanic mud have healing properties. At this Spa we sat in the sauna, Candice did not me, then we moved onto the healing mud bath area where we painted each other with paintbrushes dipped in this mud. After this we went to the natural hot springs which had a rock tub build around it. This was the first and only hot water I have had since we have been here. After we showered we headed back to Villareal.
God is so amazing the way He creates such wonders in our world for us to experience!
Love,
Lisa and Candice
